BMI and Other Calculators!
Hey! Look what I found! A nifty little BMI calculator! (Body Mass Index)
BMI Calculator
You BMI tells you where your body weight is fat vs. muscle, and tells you where you should be!
On this site you can also find out what your "ideal weight range" is, what your "happy weight range" is..lol..like how much do you exercise, and do you allow yourself a treat every now and again!
AND you can figure out how many calories you burned for a particular activity!
ie. Carpentry, Yoga, Swimming, Gardening, Ultimate Frisbee, Golfing, House Cleaning, etc.! Check it out here! Burn Calories (it's on the left hand side under where it says : Burn Calories..select an activity! Good luck!!

Ways to Boost Your Metabolism
1. Eat breakfast. (Eating eggs for breakfast for two weeks rather than bagels will help significantly. Studies show loss of waist line after two weeks of eating eggs for breakfast)
2. Lift weights. A pound of muscle consumes twice the amount of calories as fat.
3. Add more lean protien such as chicken or fish to your diet.
4. Eat smaller meals more often.
5. Mix up your cardio regularly.

7 Best Ways to Measure Your Progress
1. Start an exercise diary. Write down what you did and how it made you feel.
2. Take a before picture and post it where you will see it every day. Then take a picture every month or so after to compare.
3. Try on your skinny jeans every other Friday...or something you want to eventually fit into.
4. Do push-ups twice weekly; once weekly write down your number of reps.
5. If you're energy level is up and you're sleeping better, something's working!
6. Take not of how many times you can say "I feel great" every day.
7. Recognize how much less winded you get while walking up stairs.

8 Ways to Reach an Exercise Goal
1. Assess where you are at the beginning. How many push-ups can you do? Sit-ups? How long can you run/jog?
2. Ask yourself these questions: What is my goal? Why do I want to achieve it? What will I do to obtain it? Will I do what is required to succeed?
3.Break your big goal into four smaller ones.
4. Recruit a friend/spouse to go through process with you.
5. Schedule your work-outs for a specific times and days - just like everything else that is essential in your week.
6. Lose the all-or-nothing attitude!
7. Write a goal in a daily planner or journal and tell it to at least two friends.
8. Put money in a jar every time you work out. After 10 to 20 workouts spend it on something you want or something that will help you work out. (We may not all have tons of money but just loose change you save up for twenty workouts or for a month..then spend it. Go to a cheap movie or rent a redbox or something. But spend it on yourself!)

Ways to avoid the Ouch
Exercies is supposed to hurt...that's when it's working. I know it's hard to workout when you are sore but that is when you burn the most calories and tone your body best...when you are sore. Hint: best to work out your abs when they're sore.
Ways to avoid the pain---not working out is not an option.
1. Take a shower after working out, alternating 30 seconds hot, 30 seconds cold water.
2. Get plenty of potassium (think bananas and yogurt).
3. Warm up and cool down before and after each workout.
4. Go swimming the day after a tought workout.
5. Drink LOTS of water.
6. Soak in the tub with two teaspoons each of baking powder adn Epsom salts.

Ways to burn extra calories every day
1. Stand when talking on the phone or take a short walk if you know you will be talking for a while.
2. Shop for two hours (It actually says this in my fitness magazine!)
3. Ride your bike (or walk) to do errands (i.e. post office, library)...take a backpack if needed.
4. Have more sex.
5. Plant flowers/gardening.
6. Join a recreational sports team - soccer, baseball, karate, etc.
7. Take five 10 minute "stroll breaks" through the day. Just walk down the block and back or arond the office/campus for a few minutes.
8. Do three sets of 25 push-ups, lunges, and crunches before you get ready in the morning.
9. Take the stairs. Everywhere! (If you have bad knees then work up to this..take them occasionally.)
